Beyond the Veil, the Lives of Muslim Women

Assalamualikum

Americans know little about the 1.7 billion Muslims in the world and mostly are poorly informed about Muslim women.  To remedy this situation, there will be a moderated panel entitled

Beyond the Veil, the Lives of Muslim Women

in the BellSouth Auditorium at the Madren Center on Saturday, September 18th at 2:00 pm.  Five Muslim women (an Arab, a Turkish, an Indian, an African American, and a white American of European ancestry) will discuss their experiences as females living in the different cultures of Islam.

2010/7/24 Gholibjon Mahmudov Assalamu aleykum!

My name is Mahmudov Gholibjon, and am 37 (male). I’m from Uzbekistan, and am newly enrolled international graduate student at Clemson (Industrial Engineering MS program). Insha Allah, I will arrive at Clemson in August 11, 2010.

Would you, please, assist me with the housing arrangement. I noticed that the masjid is located in Old Stone Church Road, and if possible, I would be very thankful if there is a housing opportunity near to masjid. I’ve already checked, and found out that the Tiger Village is pretty close to masjid and to university, but I’m not completely sure if this is the best option, and Tiger offers reasonable price. Since I’m muslim, I give preferance my future roomates to be muslims too, and no pets indoors (birds are ok).

Thanks for your kind help and advice beforehand!

Assalamu aleykum!

Gholibjon Mahmudov.

MSA on OrgSync

Assalamu alaikum everybody,

This year, Clemson student organizations will be represented on a Facebook-style networking site called OrgSync (www.orgsync.com). It’s a great website that we can really utilize to connect with other organizations, among many other things.

We request that everybody create a profile on the site. It only takes a couple minutes and it is secured through the university. Go to www.orgsync.com, click “Register” on the top, then click the “Register” button next to “Clemson University.” From there, log in with your Clemson userid, and request to join the Muslim Students Association.

Also, I have to post an official membership roster for the MSA on the site. We want as many people as possible on this in order to solidify our status as a recognized student organization. If an organization dips below the minimum membership, they risk losing recognition. If you would like to be added on to the roster, please reply to this e-mail with your 9-digit CUID number. Graduate students and alumni can be included as well.

Please let me know if you have questions about anything. I hope everyone has a great rest of the summer!
