As of April 2008, Sheikh Mustafa Khattab is the imam of the Islamic Society of Clemson (ISC). He first served the Muslim community in Clemson in Ramadan of 2007.

Born in 1977 in a small village in the Delta of the Nile, he graduated from Al-Azhar University (the oldest institution of higher studies in the world and the most prestigious academy of Sunni Islam). Sheikh Mustafa got his B.A. (2002) and M.A. (2007) in Islamic Studies in English with Distinction. He is currently working on his PhD titled “Image of Islam and Muslims in the American Media with an emphasis on Fox News after September 11″. He is also an Assistant Lecturer at the Islamic Studies in English Dep., Al-Azhar University in Egypt.

He taught at the American Open University, Cairo branch, in 2007. As a Fulbright interfaith scholar in the U.S. in 2007, he lectured at churches and campuses on the importance of interfaith dialogue and clarified misconceptions about Islam and Muslims in America and about Americans in the Middle East. Sheikh Mustafa has a considerable experience in Islamic translations (including translating the entire Qur’an into English). He has also worked for a number of Islamic satellite channels in Egypt, including Iqraa, Al-Majd English Channel (now Huda TV), Islam Channel, and Al-Fajr Channel.

As a farmer, Sheikh Mustafa is committed to planting seeds of faith and hope.
